Cold Brew Coffee

Yield: 8 Cups / Level: Easy / Prep Time: 5 min / Steep Time: 22 Hr

Making your own cold brew is super easy and will save you from spending all your money at Starbucks. This is the perfectly smooth, not bitter, caffeinated base to create all kinds of flavorful iced coffee beverages. Check out my Cinnamon Coconut Cold Brew recipe for inspiration!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups coarse ground coffee

  • 8 cups filtered water

Method:

  • In a medium to large bowl, add your 2 cups of ground coffee.

  • Slowly pour 8 cups of filtered water over the grounds making sure they get completely hydrated.

  • Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and place in the refrigerator for 22 hours.

  • 22 hours later, strain your coffee into another glass bowl or jar using a fine mesh strainer.

  • Discard or compost your spent coffee grains.

  • The strained coffee will still have some fine grounds that we want to remove by straining it again through a cheesecloth.

  • I poured my coffee back into the large glass bowl with the easy pour lip. You don’t need to do this if you are good at pouring coffee from a jar without making a mess.

You can see the some of the leftover grounds here… we definitely don’t want that in our fancy iced coffee beverage.

  • Triple layer your cheesecloth and secure it to the top of a tall jar using a rubber band.

  • Slowly pour the coffee through the cheesecloth.

Enjoy!
